Complex educational program devoted to preventive measures against spreading of HIV/AIDS in the socially unprotected group of children. The program was financially supported by «Johnson & Johnson».
Prevention of HIV/AIDS among homeless and street children. Creating conditions to inhibit increase of the disease in Russia.
The pilot project of the program was carried out in 2007. Based on the results, the program was prolonged for
Moscow, in 9 social orphanages for children and teenagers and in 4 social and rehabilitation centers («Otradnoye», «Vozrozhdenye», «Altuphievo», «Khovrino», «Khoroshevo-Mnevniki», «Maryino», «Tekstil’schiki», «Zuizino», «Solntsevo», «Kryukovo», rehabilitation center for minors «Krasnoselskiy» etc.).
Complex analysis of social characteristics of 500 children has been made. Electronic data base «Children without AIDS» on homeless and street children has been formed. Special methodology for teaching prophylactics of HIV/AIDS among risk group children with account of their psychological characteristics has been developed. The methodology is designed for social teachers in the orphanages, for parents of risk group children and administrative staff. For all target groups there were published teaching guides on the subject. There were conducted trainings for 500 homeless and street children, 60 social teachers and psycologists working with children, administrative staff of 10 prefectures in Moscow, there were lectures organized for parents of risk group children.
The study carried out after the project execution showed positive dynamics in information awareness of all target groups about prophylactics of HIV/AIDS.
The program has been included in the educational schedule in 9 children orphanages and 4 rehabilitation centers of Moscow.
The program has been approved and is supported by the Moscow Government.
The results of the project have been published in the press.
The program was proposed in the competition for an award «Golden ounce» in 2007.
The program was presented at the Congress of Public Educational Movement in September of 2008.
